Hiruni Herat’s "A Sure Thing" follows Ashton and Thomas who have been best friends and roommates for 6 years now. They have an easy familiarity between them that would make you think they have been friends their entire life. They also are very passive aggressive, a lot of their conversations have double meanings. There is a lot of weight in their silence. Is There Life on Mars? "Is there Life on Mars?" follows two best friends, Nieves and Jessie, as they grapple with love, longing, identity, and self-knowing. Though the two could banter for days, there is more to be discovered in what they don't say to each other. Melpomene By Another Name Nick Giotis’s "Melpomene by Another Name" follows a woman suffering from chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis and a recent fall, as she attempts to maintain agency of her life despite it spiraling out of control. She struggles to reconcile her daughter’s concern with her own unrelenting desire for independence. When Eleanor finds herself in Mayfair Gardens Senior Care she is welcomed by a weekly, clandestine game night in the home’s cellar. The competition: poker, the stakes: a week’s supply of jello.
