Director
Artistic direction of a production is no small endeavor, and those who take up the role of Director and Assistant Director will be present in all aspects of a work, communicating with the entire Production Staff, the Directing Staff, the M&B Board, and the Cast on a regular, if not daily, basis. Full inboxes are the staple of the Producer and Associate Producer. As the conduit for Production Staff needs and Directorial desires, the Producer and Associate Producer organize meetings, keep track of the overall production budget, and very generally are present and ensure what needs to get done actually does indeed get done. Great Producers and Associate Producers have strong attention to detail, adapt easily/are resourceful, and are consistently available (whether that means by email, phone, or in person). Stage Manager
The unseen superheroes behind any production, Team Stage Management will be present with the Director in the rehearsal room, and will serve as a fundamental liaison between the Director and the Production Staff and Directing Staff, noting blocking, artistic decisions that will affect Design Teams and the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director, rehearsal room requirements/restrictions, etc. Important factors of this role include organization, timeliness, responsibility, and composure. Organizing and finding ways to meet all of the technical needs of a production is no small feat. The Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director run tech calls for lighting, sound, build, and more in order to make a production's artistic vision possible. Serving as a resource for designers, carpenters, and electricians, the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director are indispensable to the implementation of all physical design needs and work with the Production Staff and Directing Staff to ensure all artistic and technical needs are met. A solid work ethic, love of power tools and heights, and a knack for explaining and teaching technical skills are qualities sought for in this position. Download the application here. |
